What We Do

We want people to hear the gospel and know how much Jesus loves them, so for over 30 years The Message Trust has been on a mission to tell people about God. You’ll find us in schools, communities, on streets and in prisons sharing the love of Jesus Christ in words and actions with the hardest-to-reach young people and communities.

What started in the UK, has now grown into a worldwide movement with hubs around the globe, and groups training Christians in their evangelism in over 95 nations.

Creative Mission

We want every single young person to hear the good news of Jesus and know their true value in him.

Our cutting-edge mission teams creatively share the good news of Jesus to young people through music, schools lessons and gospel-centred concerts.

Everything we do is in partnership with the local church, so that as every young person hears the gospel in a way they can understand they can be connected to a church community where they will be discipled. Alongside this, we teach and encourage young people to share their own stories of hope and how Jesus has transformed their lives so that they can be catalysts of change in their communities.

Community Transformation

Everyone needs to hear the good news of Jesus so our teams head into some of the hardest-to-reach places doing just that.

We mobilise teams who will serve long-term in the toughest urban neighbourhoods sharing the good news of Jesus in word and action. In partnership with local churches, we launch Eden teams, develop community hubs and see lives and neighbourhoods transformed.

Eden sends and supports teams of urban missionaries to move into the most deprived neighbourhoods where they live sacrificially, share the gospel and build authentic community. Our teams move into tough urban communities and do life with their neighbours, sharing the good news of Jesus in word and action. The fruit is lasting transformation in lives and communities. As this happens we see levels of crime drop, urban heroes rising up and local churches growing.

Through community hubs we empower young people to share their faith in their daily lives and give opportunities for them to serve their community alongside our team.

Our hear is to provide young people with positive role models so that they are empowered to live a Christ-centred life and become transformational leaders in their community.

Prisons and Enterprise

We’re helping those who have been in prison, and those with barriers to employment take the next step on their journeys.

Our prisons and enterprise work provides a Christ-centred holistic approach to breaking the cycle of crime and gangsterism young people can find themselves in.

In prisons we deliver accredited arts courses, mentoring and Peacemaker courses. This helps them build relationships with the men, women and young people they work with through which they invite them to chapel service, Alpha courses and Bible studies. For many, these are the first ever opportunities for positive expression, helping them break free from destructive patterns of behaviour and start experiencing Jesus’ love for them.

But our work doesn’t stop at the prison gates.

We provide a support system from prison, to reintegration, through to employment that offers long-term care and discipleship for each person we work with. In Manchester, London, Canada and South Africa, we offer job opportunities in our social enterprise businesses. Here, team members gain valuable work experience and skills, all whilst getting discipleship so that they can grow in their faith.

Equipping and Training

Raising up the next generation and equipping evangelists so that more people can hear and share the gospel is at the core of our DNA.

We long to see the church and individuals changed by Jesus, so we’re passionate about equipping and empowering people to share the gospel.

Through Advance Groups we work alongside local churches equipping them for evangelism. In small groups, people get serious about evangelism and are trained so that they use every opportunity to tell people about Jesus. What started in Manchester, UK has taken off and today there are over 14,000 Advance Groups equipping people through our free small group resources in more than 95 nations around the globe. As they step out sharing the gospel lives are being transformed.

As well as training people in their nations in evangelism, students can come and spend a year on our evangelism programme – Message School of Evangelism – where they are trained and sent to share the good news of Jesus in word and deed.
